Improved Basic City Services

When I was a kid, I rode my bike through neighborhoods across the city—but more often than not, I had to ride in the street because the sidewalks were broken, incomplete, or missing entirely. Now, as a mother, I bike with my daughter through the 18th & Vine District and see that the same challenges remain: a lack of safe, connected spaces to walk, ride, and gather. That’s why I’ve made improving basic infrastructure a core priority during my time on Council.

What I’ve done so far:

Prior to getting elected, I facilitated several millions of dollars in GAP financing to improve infrastructure throughout our city. I also helped the sewer revenue bonds get approved by voters in order to take care of our waste water system.

Across the 3rd District, we’ve made real progress: repairing sidewalks in the Vineyard neighborhood, improving stormwater systems, and delivering traffic calming infrastructure around our schools to keep students safe. I partner with my 3rd District colleague to create a PIAC priority list that has made significant investments directly into improving our neighborhoods.

We’ve also addressed quality-of-life concerns with investments in street resurfacing, improved trash service, and stronger responsiveness from city departments on the basic services residents rely on every day.

What I’ll do next:

Now I’m working to create the Third District Trails Plan—a vision to connect our neighborhoods through safe, walkable, and bikeable paths that link parks, historic sites, and natural spaces across the district.

I’ve also proposed an 18th & Vine Streetcar Expansion, a transformational project that would physically reconnect the 3rd District to the rest of the city and bring economic and cultural vitality to the heart of our community.

With the highest concentration of urban farms in the city, our district has a unique opportunity to lead on beautification and food access. I’m supporting efforts that turn vacancy and blight into vibrant green spaces where residents can access healthy, locally grown food, and take pride in their neighborhoods.

This work is about more than fixing what’s broken. It’s about reconnecting the 3rd District—physically and metaphorically—to opportunity, to safety, and to each other.
