Good Paying Jobs with Benefits
My mother was a school bus driver, although her job helped provide for our family, it did not provide health insurance or a retirement plan back in the day. Today, we have people who are still experiencing the same inadequate job market.
What I’ve done so far:
Prior to getting elected, I helped local businesses gain access to GAP financing that resulted in hundreds of jobs. I also facilitated the creation of two funds that helped companies meet payroll and pay rent during the pandemic while the second fund helped individuals with food and utilities.

Since taking office, I’ve made it a priority to center economic development around people, not just projects. That means ensuring our investments lead to real, lasting opportunities for Kansas Citians.

From expanding access to careers in construction and public safety for high school students, to aligning city-led development with workforce training, I’ve worked to open pathways into good-paying, benefit-backed jobs that build long-term stability.

I’ve also seized key moments in our city’s growth—whether it’s the momentum from the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, major development projects, or the rise of urban agriculture—to make sure Kansas City’s progress translates into progress for our residents, too.
What I’ll do next:
As new construction projects get underway, we’ll continue connecting Kansas Citians to quality jobs. Whether it’s building homes, remediating land, or serving in public safety roles that keep our neighborhoods strong.

I’ll keep working with developers who are committed to building more than just buildings; those who understand that real community investment means hiring local, paying fair wages, and driving economic growth that lifts everyone.

KCFutureBuilders and the Public Safety Career Track will continue to grow, opening doors for young people to enter the skilled trades and public safety careers. And with new private development projects, I’ll advocate for local hiring and livable wages so that its impact is felt right here in our community.

This is how we build a local economy where Kansas Citians don’t just get by—they build futures, plant roots, and thrive.
